This painting by Richard Westall was exhibited at the RA in 1791 no 517 entitled 'Welsh peasants' and engraved by Bortignoni probably in the 1790's. It was also published reversed as 'La Separation doloureuse' ('The Sad Parting', a title I prefer) engraved by Cardon. It is companion to 'Scotch peasants'. Also displayed in 1791 by RW were 'Irish Peasants' a 'English peasants'.
